Hi everyone. I know moving is always a stressful and can be really nerve-racking especially if its you are moving out for the first time. So here are some tips to making everything a little easier.
1. Packing clothes efficiently: If you are like me you have some clothes for different seasons and some clothes that you can wear all year round. Depending on what season it is that you are moving I would say pack the clothes you know you aren't going to use. ex. If you are moving in winter you defiantly don't need your summer clothes (unless you are in a warmer climate) if you pack those away ahead of time you have less clothes to pack later on I would say pack theses about 2-3 weeks out of your moving date. As you get closer to your time of moving start packing away the clothes that you don't wear often or you know you aren't going to need for the next week (this should be done a week out from moving either put them in a smaller box or if you have a large suit case place them in there so they are still accessible but ready to move.) Now it is your day of moving pack all your clothes for the last week in a suit case or bag that way you can grab and go. There you go some tips for efficiently packing your clothes for moving out.
2. Should it stay or should it go: We all love our things but there comes a time where we need to ask ourselves do I really need it? Moving time is the prefect time for this because you are going through all your stuff anyways. Its no secret if it is trash that is were it belongs but what about everything else? Create three bins: 'Keep, donate, trash' if you haven't worn or used something for a year get rid of it chances are you wont wear it again or only once or twice. Donate it that way someone else can enjoy it. If you have worn it or it has HIGH sentimental value ex. grandfathers watch, wedding dress etc. then keep it the goal is to get rid of the old. and trash if it is broken throw it away specially if you have been putting off fixing it. Some things are hard to get rid of but think "do I NEED this" if your answer is no think of how happy you will make someone who finds it.
3. Pre-plan: Think ahead if you know where the box or item is going to go in your new place label it. That way the movers and or family can put it in the right spot, it saves you time later and keeps everything organized that way you aren't searching for all your things. Get friends to help offer them pizza and drinks if you cant afford of don't want movers between their cars and all those extra hands can unpack boxes way quicker than just your two hands.
4. Helping Fido: If you have a pet this can be a stressful time for them moving homes makes their world even bigger than it as before. make sure you take them over with the first set of things that ay they can smell around and get used to the new place then later that night make sure to give them one-on-one attention. Dogs get more stressed out then cats especially if they are shelter or rescue dogs due to separation issues. Some cats get really attached to so maybe even give them a treat. A happy pet makes your life so much more easier.
There you guys go these are some of my tips for moving, the reason I am posting this is because my lease for my apartment is coming to an end which means it is time to pack up and head off to a new adventure. Sorry about not having pictures for this one! When I move into my new place I will be posting a lot of DIY and organization blog posts. I am currently collaborating with a co-worker/ friend of mine on working with a fall fashion blog post. Also a food blog post is coming your way. I am really excited for fall I have so many big things planned for this blog and I hope you join me on this journey. Until next time. Rey.
