Not living with my parents means that I have to make time to see them. Today was one of those days where I went out to lunch with my dad before I had work, however, we got there about 45 minutes before they opened. We had decided to walk around and ended up going to a park in the middle of downtown and old town. It was so cute and though I had only been there once before I never actually looked around. To my delight there were sculptures everywhere!

This is a sculpture that is on the water, it is made of wire mesh and wire to create this bubbly wave effect. I love how white it is and no matter where you are standing the refection in the water created such contrast. The piece itself poses a great contrast against the world around it. To me it also looks like a hot air balloon that hasn't quit filled to its max yet. My interpretation: This piece speaks to me because in my life I have had some friends where the water is always choppy (I think everyone does.) But looking back on those relationships with those people there were great times and there were times where I just wanted to walk away, move away, and just disappear. The waves symbolize the bad or rough patches while the smooth sphere like sides remind me of the times that I like to remember that person by.

This sculpture is close to my favorite maybe even second best in my book. I like the simplicity of this design. The gentle curve of the arches just give the piece the soft element. To the eye one may see some pieces of metal stacked on top of one another, but they are stacked in a pattern that allows them to lean on one another like give gentle support to each side. My interpretation: This piece is one of softness and trust. To me it is like new friends or new lovers you have to put your trust in them and them in you. The softness resembles the lightness that we use when we are treading on unknown ground. Like with new things you normally don't go stomping around you treat it gently and with care.

This is my favorite sculpture and I love it because it is just tall enough so you can see part of the buildings that make up the skyline over the trees. The yellow is a huge contrast against the blue sky (normally grey due to clouds and rain.) I don't have a meaning or interpretation for this sculpture. But I love the innocence of it.

Then finally we come full circle back to the fountain I was talking about in my first sculpture. This is my favorite picture I took of the fountain (trust me I took many) because of the ducks they were resting on this little bar and it was the cutest thing to see some sleeping and others cleaning themselves. However, it was ruined when someone decided to feed them and the flocked over to the other side of the man-made pond. I love how clear the water from the waterfall part of the fountain is.
There you go a small rendition of my time at the park. These are only a few of the sculptures there and it doesn't even show how large the park is (for being in the middle of the city it is huge!) I had such a great day and I cant wait to not only see my dad again but also for another mini adventure. Until next time! Rey
